Jaipur, Jan. 10: BJP MP from Jaipur City Lok Sabha Ram Charan Bohra has given a controversial statement regarding the Dhai Din Ka Jhonpra, a historical building built in the Dargah area of Khwaja Saheb in Ajmer. Bohra gave this statement in the presence of Governor Kalraj Mishra at the 78th Foundation Day celebration of Rajasthan University here Monday.
In his speech, Bohra said this building was constructed by Maharaja Vigraha Raj Chauhan for the Sanskrit school, but in 1194, Mohammad Gauri converted the Sanskrit school into a Dhai Din ka Jhopda Masjid. “Even today there are marble inscriptions at this place which provide evidence of the existence of a Sanskrit school. Evidence of a Sanskrit play named Harakeli written by Vigraha Raj Chauhan can also be seen on the walls of the building.”
MP Bohra said the Dhai Din ka Jhonpda reflects the mentality of slavery. “Now the days have come to get freedom from this story. In developed India, we pledge to uproot this slavery mentality.” He said the day is not far when Sanskrit mantras will again echo in this building.
Presently the historical building ‘Dhai Din Ka Jhopra’ is a mosque where prayers are offered 5 times a day. This building is built in a Muslim-dominated area near the Dargah of Khwaja Saheb.
On Tuesday, the next day of giving a statement at Rajasthan University, Bohra wrote a letter to the Union Culture and Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, demanding to convert the Dhai Din ka Jhopda into a Sanskrit education centre.
The letter reads, “The hut which was established as a temple and Sanskrit teaching center by Maharaj Vigraharaj Chauhan in the 12th century, was demolished by Qutubuddin Aibak at the behest of Mohammad Gauri in 1294 AD. Apart from being a spreader of Vedas and Puranas, this center has also been an important center of Sanskrit education.
“This symbol of slavery to Islamic terror is still a stigma for the Indian society. Therefore, to convert it into its original form, this letter is presented for your consideration. This will give an insight into the worldly personality and work of Maharaj Vigraharaj as well as the ancient and important Sanskrit teaching center. Can be re-established. Which will prove important in the preservation and expansion of Sanatan Dharma.”
The BJP MP has sparked this new debate at a time when the consecration of Ram temple being built on the site of demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya is going to take place on January 22.
It is known that Vigraharaj Chauhan was the king of Ajmer from 1150 to 1164. The BJP MP has claimed that Mohammad Gauri built a hut for two days and a half at the place where Vigraharaj had built a Sanskrit school. It is noteworthy that Dhai Din ka Jhopda situated in Ajmer is famous for its construction in record time – just two days and a half.
Along with Bohra, Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, Malviyanagar BJP MLA Kalicharan Saraf and Rajasthan University Vice-Chancellor Alpana Kateja were also present at the 78th Foundation Day celebration of Rajasthan University.
