Jaipur, Jan. 19: Zakat Center India established its branch here Thursday, under the slogan “Poverty-Free Muslim Ummah.” Maulana Razi-ul-Islam Nadvi, member of All-India Muslim Personal Law Board and Secretary of Sharia Council of India, and city Mufti Zakir Nomani graced the occasion.
In the presence of experts and leaders from various fields, Shabbir Khan Carpet was elected president and Naeem Rabbani general secretary. Besides, U.D. Khan (retired IAS) and Pappu Qureshi were elected vice-presidents. Abdul Jabbar Kagzi and Danish Akhtar were elected secretary and treasurer respectively.
Muhammad Imran, Chairman of Helping Hand Foundation, Jaipur said Indian Muslims pay approximately `35 billion in Zakat individually, but due to lack of a collective system, the Ummah is not benefiting therefrom, and poverty is increasing day by day. “Responsible people have been concerned for a long time that a practical system should be established for Zakat per its original identity. This system should not be affiliated with any particular community or organization, but should belong to the Ummah as a whole, in which all the responsible people should fulfill their duty,” he underlined.
“Zakat Center India was established in Delhi in 2022, and today a branch of it has been established in Jaipur. The specialty of this institution is that Zakat will be collected and spent at the same location,” he added.
Maulana Razi-ul-Islam Nadvi spoke on The Shariah Status and Collective System of Zakat.
Naeem Rabbani shed light on the importance, need, and methodology of Zakat Center India. There was also a question-and-answer session, which was answered by Maulana Razi-ul-Islam Nadvi and Mufti Zakir Nomani.
The program was concluded with a Quranic recitation by Muhammad Imran, and the program was compered by Danish Akhtar.
