Sitamarhi (Bihar): A 65-year-old Muslim man, Mohammed Aziz Mansuri, succumbed to his injuries on June 10 after allegedly being brutally beaten by a group of six to seven men in Majhaura village, located in Amana Panchayat under the Sitamarhi district of Bihar. The incident occurred on June 8 and has sparked outrage after disturbing visuals of his lifeless body surfaced on social media, as per a report by the Siasat.
According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sursand police station, the assault took place following a verbal altercation between Mansuri and Raju Chaudhary, the prime accused in the case. The confrontation reportedly began after Chaudhary’s son accidentally collided with Mansuri while riding a bicycle.
Despite sustaining serious injuries, Mansuri reportedly did not receive timely medical treatment, which ultimately led to his death. The SHO confirmed to Siasat.com that an FIR was registered, albeit after considerable delay and public outcry online. The First Information Report names six individuals, including Raju Chaudhary, and has been filed under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
At the time of reporting, all six accused are on the run, and a manhunt has been launched to trace their whereabouts. Police investigations are currently underway.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the safety of minority communities in rural India and the efficiency of the justice system in promptly addressing communal violence and mob attacks.
