After Release from Custody, Arvind Kejriwal Urges Unity Against Dictatorship

12 May 2024: After emerging from his 40-day judicial custody on Friday evening, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed a gathering of enthusiastic Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters, emphasizing the need for unity in the face of dictatorship. Kejriwal expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court judges for granting him bail till June 1 in the excise policy case, enabling his presence among his supporters.

Kejriwal’s message resonated with a call to action, rallying the 140-crore people of India to stand together against authoritarianism. He highlighted the importance of collective effort in safeguarding the nation’s democratic values. The chief minister announced plans for a gathering at the Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place and a subsequent press conference at the party office, urging all to participate in this unified stance against dictatorship.

His release comes with a condition to surrender before the Tihar Jail authorities by June 2, as per the court’s order. The final round of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections coincides with this period, with results scheduled for June 4.

Kejriwal’s incarceration and subsequent release have sparked conversations about democracy, freedom, and the role of citizens in upholding these principles. As the political landscape evolves, his call for unity serves as a reminder of the collective strength of the people in shaping the future of the nation.
