Paliganj, Bihar, May 27: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi responded sharply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent ‘mujra’ comment, made during an election rally. Modi accused opposition parties of performing ‘mujra’ for Muslim voters, a statement that Owaisi criticized by likening Modi’s actions to various dance forms such as disco, bhangra, and Bharatnatyam.
Speaking to a crowd in the Patliputra constituency, Owaisi questioned the appropriateness of Modi’s language. He challenged the Prime Minister’s handling of key national issues, suggesting that Modi was more focused on theatrics than governance. Owaisi highlighted Modi’s inaction on the territorial incursions by China, asking rhetorically if Modi was “doing disco dance” on the matter. He also criticized Modi’s approach to the Citizenship Amendment Act and his silence on offensive remarks made at Hindu congregations about Muslims.
Owaisi took a jab at the BJP’s push for a Uniform Civil Code, arguing it would disenfranchise Muslims, as seen in BJP-ruled Uttarakhand. He further condemned the RJD for their minimal representation of Muslim candidates in the elections and criticized their past political maneuvers, including alleged complicity with BJP.
Recalling past grievances, Owaisi referenced the denial of burial for former Siwan MP Mohd Shahabuddin in his hometown and the killing of Atiq Ahmed, contrasting these with the RJD’s vocal defense of its own leaders. He argued that the RJD, despite its accusations against AIMIM for splitting Muslim votes, was ineffective in countering the BJP in Bihar.
Owaisi’s speech underscored the deep political and social rifts as India heads into the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He vowed that AIMIM would make a significant comeback in Bihar, criticizing both BJP and regional parties for their failures.
