Congress Chief Kharge Criticizes PM Modi’s Campaign Focus, Highlights Key Omissions

New Delhi, June 2: Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election campaign strategy, highlighting key omissions in addressing crucial issues while emphasizing self-promotion.

In his critique, Kharge revealed that PM Modi extensively used the term ‘Modi’ 758 times, ‘Mandir’ 421 times, and referred to topics like Muslim, Pakistan, and minorities a total of 224 times during his campaign speeches over the past 15 days. However, he failed to address pressing concerns such as inflation and unemployment even once.

Kharge faulted the Election Commission of India (ECI) for not taking action against PM Modi’s divisive campaign, despite guidelines prohibiting appeals on caste or communal lines.

Expressing confidence in the INDIA alliance’s prospects, Kharge asserted their readiness to form an inclusive, nationalistic, and developmental government after the votes are counted on June 4. However, he refrained from projecting a specific prime ministerial candidate, emphasizing that the decision would be collective within the alliance.

Furthermore, Kharge juxtaposed Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence with Modi’s politics of hatred, underscoring the electorate’s united stance in defending the Constitution. He urged PM Modi and BJP leaders to familiarize themselves with Gandhi’s principles, suggesting they utilize their free time after June 4 to study his biography and seminal works.

Kharge’s remarks underscored the importance of addressing substantive issues in political discourse and urged leaders to transcend divisive rhetoric in favor of inclusive governance.
