Efforts for Implementation of Urdu as Second Official Language in Telangana

Hyderabad, June 15: Telangana Urdu Academy has initiated steps for the implementation of Urdu as the second official language.

Urdu Academy Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan has written letters to all heads of departments concerned, requesting them to implement Urdu in their respective departments.

In letters to all district collectors and officials of minorities welfare departments, he urged them to enforce Urdu in their respective districts and government offices and institutions.

He has vowed to ensure the implementation of Urdu as second official language in all government and non-government institutions across the state. Stating that Urdu enjoys the status of second official language in the state, he said that the Congress government is sincere in giving Urdu its due place.

Taher Bin Hamdan pointed out that the Telangana Official Language Amendment Act is being implemented since April 27, 2018.

He exuded confidence that the Congress government led by Revanth Reddy will extend all the cooperation in promotion of the Urdu language.

The Urdu Academy Chairman said signboards of government offices and education institutions should be written in Urdu. He also underlined the need for writing signboards of business establishments in Urdu.

He said all notices, circulars and memos of the government departments should be printed in Urdu along with Telugu and English.

In a letter to Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Managing Director V.C. Sajjanar, he requested him to ensure that Urdu is included on the boards of TGSRTC buses being operated in urban and rural areas.

The Chairman claimed that the Urdu Academy is making all efforts to effectively implement various schemes for promotion of Urdu.
