Hyderabad, June 18: Voicing concern over recent communal violence in Medak, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi today asked the Congress government of Telangana to take note as to why such incidents are happening in the state after 10 years.
The Hyderabad MP said the Congress government will have to take these incidents seriously as BJP spreads hatred through these acts.
He urged the government to post police officials who discharge their duties in an impartial manner and deal firmly with those who disturb peace irrespective of the community they belong to.
Addressing the Eid Milap programme at Darussalam, he said a similar incident had occurred near Sangareddy. He said that if some incident happens every four months then it would not be good for the state. “The Congress government should also keep in mind that 2028 is not far,” he said.
Owaisi demanded that the Congress government in the state pass a legislation on the lines of Prevention of Communal Violence Bill tabled in the Parliament by Manmohan Singh government. He assured the government that AIMIM will support the Bill.
Owaisi mentioned that the legislation would make a local police official accountable in case of any communal violence.
The Hyderabad MP said if Telangana is to be strengthened, the government would have to check those who are enemies of peace.
He condemned the incident at Medak, where Hindutva groups attacked Muslims ahead of Eid al-Adha. He pointed out that the rioters did not spare the hospital where the injured were being treated. He said that a Hindu doctor, who was treating the injured who had come under attack from rioters, wants to know why they were targeted for doing their duty.
Owaisi said the government should support the hospital which was attacked. He demanded that the government provide compensation to the hospital for the damage it suffered.
The AIMIM chief also condemned the demolition of 11 houses of Muslims in Madhya Pradesh on the allegation that beef, animal hides and bovine skeletal remains were found.
He said BJP deliberately targeted Muslims as it follows the policy of hatred towards Muslims. He called Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan of ‘Sab ka sath sab ka vikas’ a drama.
Owaisi earlier tweeted that India’s children should know that the Supreme Court called the demolition of Babri Masjid an “egregious criminal act” and that they should not grow up glorifying criminal acts. He was reacting to the decision of the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to replace Babri Masjid with the words “three domed structure”.
The NCERT has also decided to call the Ayodhya judgement an example of “consensus.” India’s children should know that the Supreme Court called the demolition of Babri Masjid an “egregious criminal act,” Owaisi said.
“India’s children should know that a functioning masjid was desecrated in 1949 and then demolished by a mob in 1992. They should not grow up glorifying criminal acts,” said the AIMIM chief.
“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it,” Owaisi had earlier remarked on the NCERT director Dinesh Prasad Saklani defending the modifications in references to Babri Masjid demolition and Gujarat riots in school textbooks.
