Sheikh Saleh Al-Shaiba, Chief Key Holder of the Kaaba, Passes Away

22 June 2024:  Sheikh Saleh Al-Shaiba, the revered chief Key Holder of the Kaaba and the 109th successor of Hazrat Uthman ibn Talha, has passed away. The Muslim world mourns the loss of a significant religious figure, deeply respected for his custodianship of Islam’s holiest site.

The Janazah (funeral prayer) for Sheikh Saleh took place following Fajr (dawn) prayers today at Masjid Al Haram, the Grand Mosque in Makkah. His burial followed at the historic Al Mu’alla Cemetery, a resting place for many prominent figures in Islamic history.

Sheikh Saleh Al-Shaiba’s role as the chief Key Holder of the Kaaba, a position passed down through generations since the time of Hazrat Uthman ibn Talha, held immense significance in the Islamic community. His custodianship involved the upkeep and safeguarding of the Kaaba, a role marked by profound dedication and spiritual reverence.

The passing of Sheikh Saleh Al-Shaiba is a moment of great sorrow for Muslims worldwide. His contributions to the preservation of the sanctity of the Kaaba and his deep commitment to his duties will be remembered and honored by future generations.
