Kairana MP Iqra Hasan Advocates for Constitutional Rights, Predicts SP Victory in 2027

By Mohd Naushad Khan

Iqra Hasan, the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Kairana, took her oath holding a copy of the Constitution, underscoring her commitment to the rights it guarantees for minorities, Dalits, SCs, STs and other marginalized communities. Hasan emphasized that governance must align with constitutional principles, which she deems supreme.

Reflecting on the recent electoral success, Hasan attributed the victory to a positive, localized, and issue-based campaign. She criticized the BJP for its divisive politics and national polarization strategies, asserting that the people of Kairana prioritized local issues over such narratives. “This time, the people have rejected the hate agenda and divisive politics,” Hasan stated, pledging to fulfill her campaign promises.

Hasan hailed the performance of the Samajwadi Party as a significant achievement, crediting party leader Akhilesh Yadav for his strategic approach in forming the PDA alliance and judiciously distributing party tickets. The success has strengthened the party, which now stands as the third-largest in terms of seats, and has energized its cadres for the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Hasan expressed confidence that the Samajwadi Party will form the next state government.

In her immediate plans, Hasan aims to address developmental issues in Kairana, including improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and local amenities. Her long-term goals focus on advocating for farmers’ rights, including timely payments and fair Minimum Support Prices (MSP), as well as promoting higher education for women.

Hasan anticipates a different dynamic in the 18th Lok Sabha, with a stronger opposition challenging the BJP, which no longer holds a majority. She predicts more balanced and healthy parliamentary discussions, avoiding hasty passage of contentious bills. If given the opportunity, Hasan plans to raise critical issues such as youth unemployment, NEET controversies, and farmers’ grievances.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Kairana for their support, Hasan vowed to uphold communal harmony and work diligently for all sections of society. She hopes to maintain the spirit of unity and brotherhood that was fostered during the election campaign for the peace and prosperity of Kairana.
