Karnataka Police admired for ‘Riot Free Year’

Bengaluru, July 8: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah congratulated the Home Minister and Karnataka Police for maintaining law and order without communal riots in the last one year. He expressed satisfaction for the state remaining peaceful by and large.

Speaking at the 2024 Senior Police Officers Conference at the Police Headquarters, Siddaramaiah said that it is mandatory for every SP-DCP-IG to visit and inspect every station in their jurisdiction as per the police manual.

SP and IG level officials will also be directly responsible if clubs, gambling, betting, drugs are not stopped in their jurisdiction, and action will be taken, he warned.  All these can be avoided if they go to each station and carry out inspections, he added. He further instructed that the visit shall be for a thorough inspection and should not be a token visit.

Releasing some new software at the occasion, the chief minister spoke about the increasing menace of fake news, asserting that fake news is a thorn in the body of society. These are increasing exponentially despite having made fact-check units to prevent these. This cannot be tolerated, he warned.

The CM instructed the police officials to make use of artificial intelligence in this regard and register spontaneous complaints and take action without any hesitation.

There should be an atmosphere in the society where everyone can live in peace and fear-free. Development, capital investment and job creation are possible if the law and order is secure. Due to all these, per capita income and GDP growth can be ensured, added the CM.

Our society is full of inequality due to the caste system. If senior police officers perform their duties and responsibilities properly, lower officers will perform their duties more effectively, observed the CM.

Home Minister G. Parameshwar, Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Naseer Ahmed, Chief Secretary to Government Rajneesh Goyal, Deputy Chief Secretary Home Department SR Umashankar, DG-IG Dr. Alok Mohan, Secretary to Government KV Trilok Chandra were also present on the occasion.
