Mohammed Ali Shabbir welcomes allocation of Rs.3,003 crore for minority welfare

Hyderabad, July 26: Senior Congress leader and advisor to government of Telangana Mohammed Ali Shabbir has welcomed allocation of Rs.3,003 crore for the welfare of minorities in the state budget for 2024-25.

The former minister said the budget would ensure development of minorities and backward classes. He claimed that the Congress government is sincere in implementing welfare schemes.

Shabbir, who is advisor to the government for SC, ST, BC and minorities welfare, said the budget reflects the government’s determination to ensure social justice. The budget is focussed on development of SCs, STs, BCs and minorities.

The senior leader in the vote-on-account budget presented in February, Rs.2,200 crore was allocated for minorities welfare but Rs.3,003 crore has been provided in the full-fledged budget.

He claimed that the government will spend more than Rs.5,000 crore on development of minorities as promised in the minorities declaration of the Congress party.

Shabbir said that the government plans to establish integrated schools for minorities. He said special schools would be established for minorities on the lines of schools for SCs, STs and BCs to provide quality education.

The former minister also welcomed allocation of Rs.10,000 crore for development of Hyderabad in the state budget and said this would also give an opportunity for development of minorities, who account for 30-35% of the city’s population.

The Congress leader welcomed allocation of Rs.500 crore for Metro Rail in the old city of Hyderabad and claimed that the Revanth Reddy government is committed to complete the Metro Rail project in the old city.

He said the previous Congress governments had taken steps for development of the old city but the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government neglected the old city during the last 10 years.
