Iranian President Alerts of Conspiracies Threatening Iran-Saudi Relations

31 July 2024: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stark warning regarding potential conspiracies aimed at undermining the recently restored relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Speaking during a meeting with Saudi Minister of State Prince Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz, who is also the special representative of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Pezeshkian highlighted the efforts of “enemies and ill-wishers” to create discord between the two nations.

The meeting, held in Tehran, was reported by Xinhua News Agency, citing a statement from the Iranian president’s office. Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of vigilance, unity, and solidarity to counteract these conspiracies. He described his recent phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on July 17 as “constructive,” noting that the relationship between Tehran and Riyadh is strengthened by religious bonds and common interests.

Prince Mansour conveyed congratulations from the Saudi king and crown prince to Pezeshkian and reaffirmed the historical and cultural ties between the two countries. He underscored the mutual desire to expand relations, highlighting the significance of the agreement to resume bilateral ties last year as a pivotal step towards securing regional and global benefits.

Pezeshkian, who was sworn in as Iran’s ninth president on Tuesday, reiterated that the two nations share a common religion, Islam, and should work together to safeguard their mutual interests against external threats.

The reaffirmation of Iran-Saudi relations marks a significant moment in Middle Eastern geopolitics, with both nations expressing a commitment to overcoming adversities through cooperation and mutual respect.
