BANGLADESH TURMOIL: BJI Leaders Visit Dhakeshwari Temple, Assure Protection of Hindu Community

Dhaka, August 13, 2024: Amid the political unrest in Bangladesh, leaders from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (BJI) accompanied by Hindu community leaders, visited the Dhakeshwari National Temple here to promote interfaith harmony and assure the Hindu community of their safety and security. In a detailed report, Dainik Bhaskar highlighted the critical role of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in ensuring the protection of Hindu temples and properties during these turbulent times.

The Dainik Bhaskar report emphasized that the situation for Hindus had returned to normal after BJI leaders provided assurances of safety and security. Their presence at the temple underscored the message that Bangladesh belongs to all its citizens equally, regardless of religion.

BJI leaders stressed that there should be no division between majority and minority communities, underscoring the equal rights of all individuals. They assured the Hindu community that their organization is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen, not just in times of crisis but consistently.

“We have always strived to treat people with respect and dignity, recognizing them as human beings first,” a BJI leader stated. “We will stand guard at temples and offer our support to anyone who feels insecure, irrespective of their religion.”

The leaders also announced that their phone numbers would be made publicly available, encouraging anyone in need to reach out, reaffirming their commitment to protecting religious institutions and vulnerable individuals from harm.

As Bangladesh navigates its political crisis, marked by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and the formation of an interim government, the efforts of BJI to foster unity and peace have become all the more significant.
