Baran District Imposes Restrictions Ahead of Upcoming Festivals to Ensure Peace

Baran, Aug 28: In light of the upcoming festive season, the Baran District Magistrate, Rohitashva Singh Tomar, has enforced a series of restrictions under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, 2023. These measures will be in effect from August 26 to October 24, 2024, and are aimed at maintaining peace and preventing communal tensions during the festive period.

Several Hindu and Muslim festivals, including Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Baba Ramdev Jayanti, and Barawafat, are set to take place in the coming months. Given the nature of these celebrations, which often involve large gatherings and processions, there is a potential for law and order issues and communal discord. Baran district has been identified as sensitive in terms of communal harmony, with the risk of anti-social elements attempting to disrupt peace during these events.

Key Restrictions Imposed:

  1. Prohibition of Weapons: The carrying or display of weapons such as firearms, sharp objects, and sticks in public places is strictly prohibited.
  2. Ban on Explosives: The possession or use of explosives, flammable materials, or hazardous chemicals is not allowed.
  3. Social Media Restrictions: Spreading false information or rumours on social media that could disturb peace is banned.
  4. Regulation of Religious Processions: All religious processions are required to adhere to designated routes.
  5. Ban on Immersion of Plaster of Paris Idols: To protect water bodies from pollution, the immersion of Plaster of Paris idols is prohibited.
  6. Prohibition of Hate Speech: Hate speech or provocative slogans that could incite communal disharmony are strictly banned.
  7. Restrictions on Cable TV Broadcasts: Cable TV operators are forbidden from airing content that could disturb public order.
  8. Restrictions on Printing Materials: Printing of any material that could offend the sentiments of any religious community is prohibited.
  9. Limitations on Sound Systems: The use of loudspeakers for playing songs or speeches that could disrupt communal harmony is banned.
  10. Restrictions on Vehicles: Vehicles that are prohibited under the Motor Vehicles Act cannot be used during processions.
  11. Restrictions on Gatherings: Gatherings of more than five people require prior permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate.

Any violations of these restrictions will result in action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code, 2023. These measures have been implemented to ensure a peaceful and harmonious environment in Baran district during the festival season, preventing any potential communal tension or violence.

The district administration has urged all residents to adhere to the guidelines to maintain peace and order during this period.
