‘Morality: The Guiding Force to True Freedom and a Just Society’, webinar

Bengaluru: As a part of ongoing campaign a webinar titled ‘Morality: The Guiding Force to True Freedom and a Just Society’ was held recently. FORWARD Trust, an NGO in Karnataka working for women’s rights and dignity, hosted the webinar. National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Rahamathunnisa A. presided over the programme.

Inaugurating the session, Arshiya Fathima Tanzil introduced the campaign’s primary goals, setting the stage for an enlightening discussion. This was followed by an overview of FORWARD Trust’s mission by Syeda Nuzhat Fatima Razvi, laying the foundation for the evening’s dialogue on the significance of morality in societal progress.

Professor Indira, former Professor of Economics, Mysore University, shared a compelling definition of freedom, emphasizing its link to making choices that yield positive outcomes. She stressed the need for integrating moral values into educational curricula at all levels and called for collaboration between educators, parents, and communities to instil these values in students.

Dr. Shakila Banu, a renowned educationist, focused on the importance of respecting women and incorporating moral education in modern teaching methods. Pointing out that meaningful familial interactions are essential for guiding youth, she urged a balanced approach to digital and physical activities for holistic development.

Anita Precilla Lobo, Vice Provincial from Sisters of Charles, Bengaluru, delivered an impassioned speech on building an equitable society through ethical responsibility. She highlighted that true freedom is inseparable from moral responsibility, urging participants to nurture both human and divine values as part of personal and societal growth.

In her presidential remarks, Rahamathunnisa called for the unification of NGOs in promoting moral values across educational systems. Referencing a recent incident at a medical college, she underlined the need for urgent moral reform and also addressed broader issues such as economic freedom, debt, abuse, and gender equality, advocating for moral boundaries to address these societal challenges and foster a just future.

Hajera Mateen concluded the webinar with a heartfelt vote of thanks to the speakers and attendees, recognizing the significance of their contributions. The discussions served as a powerful reminder the crucial role morality plays in creating a society where true freedom and justice can prevail.

The webinar, attended by around 200 persons, emphasized the collective responsibility of integrating moral values into all facets of life, offering a roadmap toward a more equitable, ethical society.
