MANUU Students Protest Against Unhygienic Mess Conditions, Demand Proctor’s Resignation

Hyderabad: Students at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) have been protesting since Thursday afternoon, voicing their concerns over unhygienic conditions in the campus mess and calling for the resignation of the Proctor, who is accused of misbehaving with students.

Despite the heavy police presence deployed on campus to quell the demonstration, students remained steadfast, continuing their sit-in in front of the administration throughout the night. This collective action highlights the students’ commitment to addressing their grievances and advocating for a safe and healthy campus environment.

Student leader Talha Mannan has demanded immediate attention to the sanitation issues in the mess and accountability for the Proctor’s behavior. He has expressed a willingness to escalate the protest until their demands are met.

Students urge the university administration to engage in dialogue to resolve these pressing issues amicably.

On Friday, the Office of the Dean Students Welfare issued an order saying:  “In view of the prevailing situation and unrest in the MANUU Campus (Headquarters), MANUU Administration has decided to cancel the MSU 2024-25 Elections at the headquarters and all off-campus locations.”
