Chamarajanagar: It was a pleasant surprise when Dr. Kavita IPS, the district superintendent of police paid a visit to the city’s mosque on late Saturday evening. Madina Masjid had hosted ‘Masjid Darshan’ programme the previous week wherein the SP was one of the invited guests, but could not make it due to her some other official engagement. But many other officials and general public visited the mosque, making the event a talk of the town the next day. Huge media coverage and mouth publicity created curiosity in others.
Next day the hosts went to present a memento to the SP; she was much impressed and said she will personally come to the Masjid, and was present there in the evening. She was delighted to see the inside atmosphere, the Imam’s Musalla, the pulpit and the copies of the Quran set up in the racks.
Speaking on the occasion, she said her career began as a Kannada teacher in an Urdu school and since then she was acquainted with Muslims’ faith and culture. Masjid Darshan was a very good step to promote harmony in the society. This spirit should be replicated at other places too, she said.
Likewise, the Assistant Director of Food & Civil Supplies department also joined the evening since he too had missed the Masjid Darshan programme the other day.
Moulvi Abdus Salam, the Area Organiser of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind presented the memento to both the officials. Masjid Committee president Nayeem-ul-Huq, Secretary Waseem Pasha and many other dignitaries of the town were present on the occasion.
