JIH President Condemns Israel’s Actions in Lebanon as Terrorism

New Delhi: Syed Sadatullah Husaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), has condemned Israel’s recent military operations in Lebanon, characterizing them as “blatant acts of terrorism” and a severe violation of international humanitarian law. His statements come in light of reports detailing the tragic loss of 492 lives, including 35 children, in a single day due to these attacks, which have also left over 1,600 injured and displaced tens of thousands of civilians.

In a press conference, Husaini condemned the escalation of conflict in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent humanitarian crisis that has ensued. He pointed out that Israel’s actions not only undermine the principles of distinction and proportionality mandated by international law but also reflect a troubling pattern of violence that threatens regional stability.

Highlighting previous “pager attacks,” Husaini referenced comments from various observers, including the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, who labeled these incidents as acts of terrorism. He criticized Israel’s use of booby traps and other indiscriminate weapons, asserting that such tactics pose a grave threat to innocent lives and global peace.

Husaini expressed alarm over the lack of response from the international community, particularly from nations that have previously championed a global “war on terror.” He called for immediate action, urging the UN and the global community to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and hold Israel accountable for its actions against both Palestinian and Lebanese civilians.

“Without decisive intervention, the risk of a broader conflict looms over the region, with potentially catastrophic consequences,” Husaini concluded, calling for urgent measures to restore peace and protect civilian lives.
