New Delhi: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Jamia Millia Islamia Unit, successfully organized a one-day Quranic workshop on Wednesday at Hotel River View here. The objective of the workshop was to deepen participants’ understanding of the Quran and foster intellectual and spiritual growth through its teachings. The theme of the workshop was “Al-Dhikr,” and it featured two sessions, each with five speakers, followed by interactive question-and-answer rounds. Around 200 students from Jamia Millia Islamia, including both male and female participants, attended the event.
The program began with an inaugural address by Imrul Qais, President of SIO Delhi. Prof. Mohammad Ishaq, Former Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Languages, JMI delivered a valuable talk on “An Introduction to the Quran.”
Dr. Salman Asad spoke on “The Quran’s Perspective on Education,” focusing on the verse “And He taught Adam all the names.”
Renowned scholar and writer, Prof. Mohsin Usmani Nadvi, shared insights on how to implement the Quran’s teachings in daily life, while Dr. Waris Mazhari emphasized the role of women in light of the Quran, urging for the revival of their desired role in society.
Dr. Mohiuddin Ghazi, Editor of Zindagi-e-Nau, discussed building an intellectual connection with the Quran, stressing the importance of reasoning and reflection in understanding the Quranic message. He also highlighted the unique reasoning style found in the Quran.
Dr. Khan Yasir led the Q&A session, providing insightful answers to the attendees’ questions.
President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Syed Sadatullah Husaini gave a profound talk on the Islamic concepts of social, political, and economic justice based on the Quran. He highlighted the Quranic teachings on human equality and elaborated on the balanced, comprehensive, and humanitarian approach of the Islamic economic system. His speech also emphasized the pivotal role of Zakat in achieving economic justice.
Dr. Raziul Islam Nadvi, a well-known scholar, focused on the crucial role of Hadith in understanding the Quran.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks from the National President of SIO, Ramees EK, who praised the event as a significant achievement in the history of SIO Jamia Millia Islamia. The Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO) of Jamia Millia Islamia played an essential role in the event’s success.
