Tonk: After Friday prayers here yesterday, a large rally was organized under the banner of Awam-e-Rajasthan organization, led by Advocate Kashif Zubairi. The demonstrators submitted a memorandum to District Collector, addressed to Prime Minister and Chief Minister, demanding immediate action on key issues.
The primary demand is withdrawal of the Waqf Amendment Bill, which is currently under review by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Advocate Kashif Zubairi voiced strong opposition to the bill, stating that it goes against the sentiments of the Muslim community.
“The Waqf Amendment Act, as proposed by the central government, is not acceptable to the common Muslims. We demand its immediate withdrawal,” Zubairi declared.
The memorandum also urged the government to take strict action against Yeti Narasimhanand, Ramgiri Maharaj, and BJP MLA Nitesh Rane for making inflammatory and derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and for inciting violence against Muslims. Zubairi highlighted the dangerous nature of their statements, which have caused widespread anger within the Muslim community.
“These individuals are a threat to societal peace and must be arrested without delay,” he stressed.
The memorandum also included a plea to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, calling for action against BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya. Zubairi accused Acharya of targeting the Muslim community through hate speeches and harassment. He cited several instances, including Acharya’s personal visits to meat shops to harass shopkeepers, disrupting Shia processions during Muharram, and falsely accusing Muslims of using fake Aadhar cards and labeling them as terrorists.
Emphasizing that laws such as Food and Safety Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) already exist to address legitimate concerns, Zubairi condemned Acharya for using these issues to spread hatred.
“His actions have stoked anger among the Muslims of Rajasthan, and we urge the Chief Minister to take prompt action against him,” he added.
