Jaipur: In a strong show of solidarity with the Palestinian people, a seminar and candle march were organized in Jaipur on Monday to protest the completion of one year of genocidal Israeli attacks on Palestine. The event, held at Mazdoor-Kisan Bhawan, was jointly organized by Daman Pratirodh Andolan, Rajasthan, and All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO), bringing together activists, academics, and political leaders to discuss the dire humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
The seminar, presided over by senior CPI(M) leader Comrade Vasudev Sharma and AIPSO State General Secretary Comrade Sunita Chaturvedi, highlighted the continuous atrocities faced by the Palestinian people, especially women, children, and civilians. Speakers condemned the relentless Israeli aggression and its targeting of hospitals, schools, and religious places, as well as the blockade of essential humanitarian aid, which has exacerbated the suffering of those in the war-torn region.
In their speeches, Vasudev Sharma, Samagra Seva Sangh’s State President Sawai Singh, Dr. Ghasiram Chaudhary from AIFUCTO, Upendra Shankar from Jal Dhara Mission, Sabiha Parveen from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, and CITU’s State President Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat condemned Israel and its Western allies, particularly the US, NATO, and EU governments, for their role in perpetuating the conflict.
Speakers emphasized the devastating toll of the war, which has claimed the lives of around 50,000 innocent people, with many more feared unaccounted for. They criticized the Indian government’s reversal of its historic support for Palestine and its current involvement in supplying arms to Israel, calling this a betrayal of India’s Non-Aligned Movement legacy.
The seminar called for immediate ceasefire, demanding the cessation of Israeli attacks and the unimpeded delivery of food, water, and medical aid to Palestinian civilians. The participants voiced concern over far-reaching consequences of the conflict, warning that the continuous escalation could push the world toward a dangerous global confrontation.
A resolution was passed urging the Indian government to halt all arms and explosives supplies to Israel. The seminar concluded with a candle march from Mazdoor Kisan Bhawan to Hasanpura Sabzi Mandi Chauraha, where participants paid tribute to the victims of the war and raised slogans against Israel, NATO, and the US for their roles in the ongoing genocide.
The event underscored the widespread condemnation of Israel’s actions and reinforced the call for global peace, with protestors from across the world, including the US and Europe, continuing to pressure their governments to stop supporting the conflict. The program was conducted by CPI(M) District Secretary Dr. Sanjay Madhav.
