Jhunjhunu: A massive gathering took place at the Idgah ground in Jhunjhunu during a Muslim Mahapanchayat organized by Muslim Nyay Manch, where the community pledged its support to a Muslim candidate for the upcoming Jhunjhunu assembly by-election. The event, which witnessed participation from numerous prominent figures, called for the Congress high command to grant an assembly ticket to a Muslim candidate, emphasizing the community’s long-standing loyalty to the party.
The Mahapanchayat began with Quranic recitation by Maulana Shakrudin. In his welcome address, Imran Badgujar, convenor of Muslim Nyay Manch, expressed the community’s unwavering support for Congress over the years but voiced frustration over the lack of representation. He criticized the current Congress MP for his absence during critical moments of happiness and sorrow within the Muslim community.
M.D. Chopdar, Chairman of Rajasthan Madrasa Board, highlighted that despite never having been given an assembly ticket in Jhunjhunu, Muslims have consistently supported Congress. Chopdar urged the party to consider a Muslim candidate, stating, “If the Congress high command offers a ticket to any Muslim, we will unite and ensure their victory in the upcoming by-election.”
Maulana Wahid Khatri, state secretary of Jamiat-i-Ulama, stressed the importance of claiming political power rather than waiting for it.
Former District Collector Ashfaq Hussain expressed disappointment in the Congress party’s treatment of the Muslim community in Jhunjhunu, assuring that he would stand by them if needed. Maqbool Hussain, a senior councilor, added that if Muslims were ignored in the upcoming elections, the community would return the Congress ticket empty-handed.
Other speakers, including educationalist Master Yunus Ali Bhati, and Sarpanch Amin Ali Maniyar, emphasized the need for Congress to recognize the contributions of the Muslim community and grant them the representation they deserve.
