SDPI Calls Suspension of Mangrol Municipal Vice President Unconstitutional

Baran: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has strongly condemned the suspension of Kosar Parveen, Vice President of Mangrol Municipal Corporation, labelling the move as unconstitutional and politically motivated. In a meeting held by SDPI district committee in Baran, party leaders criticized the decision, asserting that the allegations of encroachment against Parveen are unfounded and lack evidence.

SDPI District President Abdul Aziz emphasized that the property in question belongs to Parveen’s father-in-law, Liaquat Hussain, who was granted a 21×45 sq ft plot by Mangrol Municipality on September 5, 2002. Parveen, who married into the family in 2014, is not involved with the partial 7×21 sq ft land at the center of the encroachment claims.

“The allegations against Kosar Parveen are baseless, as the land was issued long before her marriage, and no official reports identify her as an encroacher,” said Aziz, citing recent reports from the municipality, the sub-divisional officer, and the district collector, none of which mention Parveen’s involvement.

Aziz further argued that the suspension is an example of the state government’s authoritarianism, pointing to political motives as the underlying cause. He claimed that local BJP members saw Parveen as an obstacle to securing the president’s post in Mangrol municipality and took advantage of their power to remove her from office.

“Despite not serving the suspension order, the BJP has already appointed a nominated municipal president to take charge,” he added.

SDPI District General Secretary Zakir Hussain echoed these concerns, calling for legal action against what the party described as an abuse of authority.

“This is a blatant misuse of power, and we strongly condemn such unconstitutional actions,” he stated.

The controversy stems from a recent decision by the Rajasthan government’s Department of Local Bodies to suspend Parveen and Congress-backed Corporation Chairman Kaushal Suman. Following their suspension, BJP councilor Om Prakash Nagar was appointed new chairman of the Corporation, raising questions about the political motivations behind the move.
