Healthcare Worker and Activist Satya Vati Denounces Support for Israel at Cobb County Meeting

Cobb County, Georgia: Satya Vati, a healthcare worker and organizer for the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), voiced her strong opposition to any present or future resolutions in support of Israel during a public meeting in Cobb County. Speaking on behalf of the PSL, Vati condemned such resolutions, asserting that they represent unwavering support for “racist apartheid colonialism, illegal occupation, and terrorism” directed towards Palestinians.

During her speech, Vati emphasized that Israel has subjected Palestinians to 75 years of displacement, humiliation, and violence. She criticized the portrayal of Israel’s actions as self-defence, stating that the Israeli state is the real “terrorist organization” responsible for ongoing atrocities.

“By what standard of morality can one talk about the right to self-defence of a colonial state that has committed acts of terror towards Palestinians for 75 years?” she questioned.

Vati’s remarks also drew attention to the recent escalation of violence, with Israeli airstrikes targeting homes, hospitals, schools, and places of worship in Gaza and the West Bank. She called the resolution passed by the commissioners “despicable” and argued that it fails to acknowledge the plight of Palestinians.

Highlighting the growing global movement in support of Palestine, Vati noted that millions of people worldwide and thousands across the U.S. have taken to the streets to demand an end to the Israeli occupation and the “genocidal bombing of Gaza.” She pointed out that an upcoming protest on November 4 is expected to gather tens of thousands of demonstrators in Washington, D.C., calling for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel and expressing opposition to President Joe Biden’s foreign policy.

In her concluding remarks, Vati affirmed the PSL’s position that “resistance is justified when people are occupied,” asserting that the struggle of colonized people against colonialism must never be condemned. She called for the fall of what she described as Israeli apartheid and demanded justice for the Palestinian people, concluding with the rallying cry, “Free, free Palestine.”
