Jamiat(M) delegation Meets JPC on Waqf

New Delhi:  Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind(M) on Monday presented its views on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024 before the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Waqf at the Parliament House Annexe here.

The delegation led by its president Maulana Mahmood Madani made several suggestions to the JPC regarding the controversial bill which was rejected by all the community organisations in one voice.

The Jamiat delegation comprised Supreme Court senior advocate Rauf Rahim, Akramul Jabbar Khan (Retired IRS Officer), Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi (General Secretary, JUH), Maulana Niaz Ahmed Farooqui (Secretary, JUH) and Ovais Sultan Khan (Advisor, JUH).

During discussions, the delegation presented a comprehensive set of recommendations concerning the proposed amendments to the Waqf Act. JUH highlighted concerns about how these changes will affect the management of Waqf properties and the rights of the Muslim community. Advocate Rauf Rahim offered a detailed analysis of the bill.

Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, All India Muslim Personal Law Board, All India Muslim Majlis-e- Mushawarat and other organisations and leaders represented the concerns of the community to the JPC on the Waqf Bill.
