The recent communal violence during a religious procession in Bahraich has drawn widespread alarm and condemnation from various quarters. Prof. Salim Engineer, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, expressed grave concern over the incident, calling for urgent measures to ensure accountability and justice.
In a strong statement, Prof. Engineer emphasized that the violence not only underscores the escalating threat of communalism in society but also points to a serious breakdown in law and order.
“This incident is a stark reminder of the growing communal tensions and the complete failure of authorities to maintain peace and protect citizens,” he remarked.
He urged local civil society groups, religious leaders, and political representatives to step up efforts in advocating peace, reconciliation, and social harmony.
“In these challenging times, it is crucial for all sections of society to come together, uphold unity, and resist the forces that aim to divide us,” he said.
Prof. Engineer further appealed to the people of Bahraich and beyond to stay calm and united in the face of provocations, encouraging communities to actively promote peace and goodwill.
“We must ensure that those who seek to sow division do not succeed. It is only through collective effort and mutual respect that we can overcome such challenges and secure a peaceful future for all,” he added.
