MLC Amer Ali Khan Seeks CM’s Intervention over Omission of ‘Minorities’ in GOs

Hyderabad: Member of Telangana Legislative Council Amer Ali Khan has taken up the issue of omission of term ‘minorities’ in two key Government Orders (GOs) with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, he requested immediate redressal concerning the omission of the term “Minorities” in the two GOs.

Khan, who was recently nominated to Legislative Council by the Congress government, highlighted the exclusion of minorities from GO No. 18, issued by the Planning Department on October 10, 2024, which pertains to a comprehensive household survey for collecting socio-economic, educational, employment, political, and caste data across the state. He expressed concern that this order does not mention the minority communities.

Amer Ali Khan also raised concern over GO No. 33, issued by the Transport, Roads & Buildings Department on October 11, 2024 for financial assistance for the construction of houses under the Indiramma Indlu Housing Scheme. The omission of minorities in the order was also noted and flagged in the letter to the Chief Minister.

Khan pointed out that the Congress government has been committed to the welfare of minorities, and requested that the Chief Minister intervene to rectify these omissions. He urged the inclusion of “Minorities” in both GOs to ensure their rights, as guaranteed by the Constitution of India, are protected and upheld.

“The Congress government has always been inclusive, and has concern for the development of all communities, including minority communities. The inclusion of minorities in these two GOs is important and will ensure the development and welfare of all communities,” he added.
