Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Media, Khalid bin Abdulqader Al-Ghamdi, commended the significant role played by more than 20.6 million Indian expatriates in the country, highlighting their contributions across various sectors. In a recent statement, Al-Ghamdi acknowledged that Indian workers, who have been part of Saudi Arabia’s workforce for decades, are deeply integrated into the kingdom’s society and culture, reports the Arab Times.
He noted that Indian traditions, festivals, and cuisine have become a vibrant part of Saudi life, enriching the local culture and fostering a sense of mutual respect between the two nations. The deputy minister praised the skills and professionalism of Indian workers, emphasizing their vital role in Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to diversify the economy beyond oil by developing industries like tourism, entertainment, and technology.
Al-Ghamdi’s remarks came during the launch of the ‘Global Harmony’ initiative in Riyadh, as part of the “Quality of Life” Program linked to Vision 2030. The Riyadh season, which commenced on October 13, features cultural events representing 11 countries, including India, with concerts, exhibitions, traditional foods, and handicrafts taking centre stage over the 45-day event.
Discussing the longstanding relationship between Saudi Arabia and India, Al-Ghamdi remarked, “The relationship between our countries is growing stronger, with new areas of cooperation emerging in economics and culture, aligned with Vision 2030 and India’s long-term projects.”
Indian professionals continue to play a pivotal role in Saudi Arabia’s growth, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
