Two Muslims Arrested for Stone-Pelting during Protest against Narsinghanand’s Remarks

Ghaziabad: Two Muslim men have been arrested for allegedly pelting stones at police officers outside the Dasna Devi Temple in Ghaziabad during a protest against the blasphemous remarks made by Yati Narsinghanand, reports The Hindu citing police sources.

The accused, Momin (32) and Wahid (35), were apprehended based on CCTV footage and information received by the police. Station Officer Ankit Kumar of Wave City police station confirmed that the arrests were made in connection with an incident that took place on October 4, 2024.

The accused reportedly admitted to their involvement, explaining that they were angered by Narsinghanand’s derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during a programme at Hindi Bhawan on September 29. The remarks sparked widespread outrage among the Muslim community.

“So far, 27 individuals have been arrested for their participation in the stone-pelting incident. We are continuing our efforts to track down others involved,” SO Kumar stated.

Narsinghanand, a controversial figure and head priest of the Dasna Devi Temple, is facing multiple FIRs and protests for his alleged hate speech. His comments are said to have violated Section 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to intentionally hurting religious sentiments.

The situation remains tense as the police continue to investigate and pursue legal actions against those involved in the unrest.
