MDF Condemns Disruption of Yogendra Yadav’s Event in Akola

Akola: The Maharashtra Democratic Forum (MDF) has strongly condemned the disruption of a public meeting here featuring renowned political analyst and Bharat Jodo Abhiyan’s national convener, Yogendra Yadav. The event, organised by MDF, witnessed speeches by several prominent speakers, but Yadav was prevented from addressing the gathering.

MDF Secretary Sheikh Abdul Mujeeb expressed deep dissatisfaction over the incident, calling the attack on Yadav and fellow activist Ulka Mahajan a direct assault on democratic values. “This is not only an infringement on freedom of speech but also a violation of constitutional provisions that protect the right to hold meetings and engage in dialogue,” he said.

Sheikh Mujeeb lamented the violent interference by disruptive elements, which included forcibly climbing the stage, seizing the microphone, overpowering security personnel, and targeting the convoy of vehicles.

“Such actions are a blatant trample on democratic principles. Suppressing voices of dissent in this manner is not only condemnable but also raises suspicions of a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining the unity of citizens,” he added.

The MDF Secretary further stressed that democracy thrives on debate and dialogue, and attempts to stifle dissent are a disservice to the nation. He reaffirmed MDF’s commitment to protecting the rights of marginalised communities, emphasising that the organisation is not affiliated with any political party but is a citizen-driven movement dedicated to social justice.

Condemning the incident as “shameful and outrageous,” Sheikh Mujeeb urged authorities to investigate those responsible for orchestrating the disruption.

“No matter how intense the opposition, it must be voiced through logical and rational means,” he asserted, reiterating MDF’s pledge to uphold the values of justice, freedom, and equality.

“We will continue to strengthen democracy through our efforts,” he concluded.
