Congress Fields Aryan Khan in Ramgarh By-Election

– Raheem Khan

Jaipur: As Rajasthan heads into crucial assembly by-elections across seven seats, Congress has finalised its candidates for all positions. Among the notable candidates is Aryan Khan, who will represent the Congress from Ramgarh constituency in Alwar district. Aryan, son of late Zubair Khan – who won the seat in 2023 but passed away last month – steps into the electoral arena to continue his family’s political legacy.

Aryan Khan, a 27-year-old law graduate, brings both experience and a familial legacy to the campaign. His father, Zubair Khan, became an MLA at the same age, representing Ramgarh for the Congress over four decades. The seat has deep roots with the Khan family, as Zubair ran for assembly elections seven times on Congress ticket, securing victory in four of those races. In 2018, Zubair’s wife, Safia Zubair Khan, held the Ramgarh seat, and Zubair returned to secure it once more in 2023.

Following his father’s passing, the Congress appears to be leaning on the sympathy factor, nominating Aryan to carry on the family’s longstanding influence in Ramgarh. The young candidate is already well-acquainted with campaign operations, having managed election booths in the 2018 and 2023 elections alongside his father and mother.

After the nomination announcement, Aryan expressed his dedication to Congress and his constituency, sharing that he has worked diligently in the background over the years. His nomination was submitted on October 24, in the presence of prominent Congress figures, including former Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie, Mundawar MLA Lalit Yadav, and Congress District President Yogesh Mishra.

In the upcoming by-election, Aryan will face BJP’s Sukhwant Singh, who previously ran as an independent but now represents his party officially.
