Jaipur: A Muslim Teli Mahapanchayat delegation led by state president Abdul Latif Arko, has called for prompt action against Sanjay Sharma, known as Baba Balmukund Acharya, BJP MLA from Hawa Mahal constituency, after a reported incident of alleged misconduct at the Shia community’s Imam Bargah.
The delegation, comprising Deputy Qazi Syed Asgar Ali, Ramadan Mansuri, Shakilur Rehman, and others, recently met with former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to voice their concerns. Besides, a letter has been submitted to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, urging him to intervene and ensure that MLA Acharya respects the sanctity of religious sites.
According to Abdul Latif Arko, the MLA along with his associates allegedly forced entry into the Imam Bargah, a revered site for the Shia community, while wearing shoes, and reportedly threatened women and children present. It is further alleged that he behaved disrespectfully toward the Shia religious leader. Arko described the act as “inhuman and uncouth,” stating that it undermines the Sanatan tradition, which advocates respect for all faiths.
The Teli Mahapanchayat has also accused the MLA of attempting to claim the Imam Bargah’s land, a move they believe is baseless and intended for illegal acquisition. Arko emphasised that such actions have deeply hurt the community’s sentiments, demanding swift and appropriate measures from authorities.
