JNU Cancels Seminars Featuring Iranian, Palestinian and Lebanese Ambassadors

New Delhi: The Centre for West Asia Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University recently cancelled three seminars that were set to explore the ongoing West Asia conflict, citing “unavoidable reasons” for the cancellations. According to The Indian Express, the seminars were to be separately addressed by the ambassadors of Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon to India.

Dr. Iraj Elahi, Iran’s Ambassador to India, was scheduled to speak to students on Thursday at 11 am about Iran’s perspective on the recent developments in West Asia. However, students received an email from event coordinator Sima Baidya at 8:09 am informing them of the cancellation.

The email also announced the cancellation of two additional seminars. One, scheduled for November 7, was to focus on the violence in Palestine, with Palestinian Ambassador Adnan Abu Al-Haija as the speaker. The other, planned for November 14, aimed to discuss the situation in Lebanon and was to feature Lebanese Ambassador Dr. Rabie Narsh.
