New Delhi: The Women’s Wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) launched a powerful documentary that shines a spotlight on the urgent need for a morally rooted society. Released today at 12:30 pm by Syed Sadatullah Husaini, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, the documentary’s unveiling marks the conclusion of JIH Women’s Wing’s nationwide campaign, “Morality is Freedom,” which ran from September 1 to September 30, 2024.
Narrated by Vinjit Sasi, the documentary poignantly personifies society, voicing a deep reflection on the disintegration of the values of compassion, unity, and integrity. Through this voice, society mourns a time when truth, justice, and brotherhood served as the foundation of daily life.
In a powerful moment, the narration laments, “I remember when my existence was rooted in the foundation of brotherhood… but today, you have shattered my essence into fragments of caste, religion, and language.”
This line resonates as an expression of anguish over the loss of mutual respect, eroding familial bonds, and a culture increasingly tainted by distrust and division.
The documentary, captured and edited by N. Salim Thoufeeque of NST Coral Wave Production, explores the idea that true freedom is grounded in moral discipline and cannot thrive in selfish pursuits. It warns of the dangers that unchecked desires, free from ethical restraint, may bring upon society, emphasising that a balance of freedom and responsibility is crucial to maintaining justice and harmony.
The film critiques the evolving role of education, which, over time, has shifted from fostering moral and ethical growth to a sole focus on career preparation, void of ethical guidance. This transformation, it suggests, has contributed to a society where family bonds are fraying, respect for elders is waning, and communal ties are weakening. Women’s safety, once considered a collective responsibility, is now portrayed as compromised. The film makes a call to action, urging society to renew its commitment to the dignity and protection of women.
At the release event, Syed Sadatullah Husaini voiced his hope that this documentary would ignite a moral revival nationwide. He emphasised that moral integrity serves as the foundation of peace and social harmony, urging citizens to strive for a life anchored in truth, justice, and ethical values.
This ambitious production was a collaborative effort led by concept creator and scriptwriter Sajida A. Zubair, with production management handled by P.K. Moosa, P. Mujib Rehman, and M.K. Naseer.
The Media Department of JIH Women’s Wing, under the coordination of Rabia Basri and Sumayya Maryam, provided essential support to bring the documentary to life.
The project featured an extensive cast, including M. Ishaq, C. Abdul Rehman, C. Yunus, N. Shabir, Tasleema, C. Shafique, M. Jabir, Mohammed Avesh, K. Anas, K. Abdul Razack, M. Mohammed Haneefa, Vinjusha P., and others. Students from Sky3: Heavens Pre-School in Kanyapuram also made special appearances, adding a touch of innocence and hope to the film’s message.
Concluding the month-long campaign, the JIH Women’s Department leaves audiences with a profound message: a call to reclaim society’s moral values and foster a culture of empathy, respect, and honesty. The documentary ends on an emotional note, urging viewers to rediscover their moral compass and contribute to building a compassionate and just community.
