Kushwaha Shivpujan Mehta, BSP candidate for Hussainabad assembly seat, filed a complaint on Friday against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging that he disrupted communal harmony. The complaint was submitted to the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Palamu district, Jharkhand, according to Mehta’s legal representative, Sanjay Kumar Akela.
Akela stated that the case will be heard on November 16. Mehta is contesting the Hussainabad seat, with polling scheduled for November 13. The complaint stems from an election rally held in Hussainabad on October 23, where Sarma pledged that if the BJP wins the upcoming assembly elections, Hussainabad – currently a sub-division in Palamu – would be upgraded to a district and named after either Lord Ram or Lord Krishna.
Sarma made this statement while campaigning for the BJP candidate from Hussainabad, Kamlesh Kumar Singh. In his complaint, Mehta accused Sarma, who serves as BJP’s co-incharge for the Jharkhand election, of attempting to incite communal tensions in the region.
