Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raajioon
Today, on 7th November 2024, we bid farewell to Janab Ummed Bakhsh, aged around 88, a beloved and gentle soul whose life was a testament to humility, dedication, and sincerity. As the father of Dr. Muhammad Salim Engineer, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Janab Ummed Bakhsh embodied values that radiated through his family and the community around him.
Known for his pleasant personality and kind-hearted approach, Janab Ummed Bakhsh was a devoted Rukn-e-Jamaat (member of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind), committed to the cause of Tahreek-e-Islami with unwavering spirit. He had been Ameer Maqami (Local President) of JIH Bonli.
Even in his advanced years, he continued to work tirelessly for the noble objectives he held close to his heart, offering guidance and companionship to all who crossed his path. His whole life was dedicated to the service of Deen and community, including his role as Imam at Masjid Qarar Khaniyan, Bonli (his native village in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan) where he led the prayers without pause for 50 years.
Beyond his spiritual devotion, Janab Ummed Bakhsh was also a teacher, dedicating much of his life to nurturing young minds in the madarsa. As an athlete in his youth, he was a talented football and volleyball player, reflecting his vibrant spirit and enthusiasm. Sometimes, he channelled his emotions into poetry, capturing the beauty of faith and the journey of life in verse, leaving behind heartfelt words for his loved ones.
The loss of Janab Ummed Bakhsh is profoundly felt, yet his legacy endures in the lives he touched, the inspiration he imparted, and, above all, through his gifted son, Dr. Muhammad Salim Engineer, who stands as sadaqa-e-jariyah, a lasting contribution to the community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and pray that his memory continues to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
May Allah the Exalted accept all his good deeds, forgive his mistakes, and grant him a place in Jannah. We make dua for his maghfirat, asking Allah to envelop him in His infinite mercy and grant him peace and closeness to Him in the hereafter. Ameen.
