Sam (Jaisalmer): The Western Rajasthan Education Movement (WREM), an initiative launched by SIO Rajasthan, held a talent recognition ceremony at Sam Public School playground here Tuesday. The event celebrated students who scored over 65% in their 10th and 12th-grade examinations.
The ceremony’s Chief Guest, Dr. Raheem Khan, Chief Editor of Janmanas Rajasthan, joined a distinguished panel of guests, including Mufti Qazi Khan, Sajan Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Lakhmir Khan, Qari Basant Khan, Hafiz Khan, and Qader Fakir, with Mohammad Azam Khan, former state secretary of SIO Rajasthan, in the chair.
The event commenced with Quranic recitation. Sajan Khan, Director of Sam Public School, welcomed the guests with traditional Sindhi Ajrak shawls and emphasised the importance of education in his address.
Salim Akhtar, convener of WREM, detailed the initiative’s origins, objectives, and achievements. He explained that SIO Rajasthan established the WREM in 2019 to address the region’s low literacy rates. The movement focuses on promoting education, raising awareness, encouraging higher education, instilling moral values, increasing school enrolment, reducing dropouts, and guiding students toward educational opportunities.
Mufti Qazi Khan, reflecting on Jaisalmer’s educational challenges, praised WREM’s efforts and underscored the transformative power of education.
Dr. Raheem Khan congratulated WREM for its impactful work and applauded the students for their dedication. He urged them to aim high, emphasising the importance of moral integrity alongside academic excellence.
Mohammad Azam Khan highlighted the role of students in nation-building and stressed their responsibility towards their families, emphasising morality and character development.
Talented students were recognised with shields and certificates, while top three performers in both 10th and 12th grades received gold, silver, and bronze medals.
The event concluded with a prayer led by Israr Ahmed, an SIO member. Salim Akhtar, the WREM convener, expressed heartfelt thanks to all participants, including guests, students, and the community.
