AMU Faculty Participates in National Conference on Museums in Vadodara

Aligarh: Dr. Danish Mahmood, Assistant Professor at the Department of Museology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), participated in the three-day All India Annual Conference held at the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, Vadodara recently. The event was jointly organised by the Museums Association of India and the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Gujarat, under the theme “Ideational and Experiential Museums.”

Dr. Mahmood presented a paper titled “Experiential Museums: The Future of Museums, Engaging Visitors for Varied Experiences.” Highlighting innovative approaches for visitor engagement, he proposed a futuristic model of museums emphasising storytelling and learning experiences through advanced technologies. He discussed examples like the Ras Ras Banaras Virtual Experiential Museum, ABV Museum in Mumbai, and India’s first Sunken Museum at Humayun’s Tomb.

Dr. Mahmood also chaired the fifth technical session on “The Future of Museums and Technological Advancements.”

The conference was also attended by Mr. Masarrat Khan, Artist, and Ms. Tayyaba Khan, Research Scholar from AMU’s Department of Museology. Ms. Tayyaba presented her research paper, showcasing AMU’s contribution to the evolving field of museology.
