– Raheem Khan

Jaipur: A thought-provoking discussion on “Increasing Human Rights Violations and Our Role” was held as part of the Constitution Pakhwada in observance of Human Rights Day. The event, presided over by Retired Judge T.C. Rahul, was jointly organised by Rajasthan Nagrik Manch (RNM), APCR, Rajasthan Ekala Nari Mahila Manch, and Rajasthan Nirman Mazdoor Panchayat.

Basant Haryana, General Secretary of RNM, shared details of the programme, highlighting remarks made by Kavita Srivastava, National President of PUCL. She expressed grave concern over the rising atrocities against minorities across the globe and urged conscious citizens to stand against these injustices.

Senior advocate Prem Kishan Sharma pointed out that the absence of dialogue on human rights in political discourse poses a significant challenge to democracy.

Syed Shahadat Ali, State President of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), stressed the alarming rise in human rights violations and the judiciary’s seeming indifference, calling it a critical issue for society to address.

Retired Judge T.C. Rahul reflected on the history and significance of Human Rights Day in the context of the Indian Constitution, urging individuals to embody constitutional ideals in their daily lives.

The event also featured insights from social worker Hemlata Kasautia, Mohammad Nazimuddin, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Rajasthan, Anil Yadav, and Mujahid Naqvi. Muzzamil Rizvi, General Secretary of APCR, conducted the programme, while Sundar Singh Raju delivered the vote of thanks.

A large gathering of students, workers, and social activists attended the event, which aimed to raise awareness about human rights and inspire collective action to safeguard them.
