Palestinian Envoy Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer Congratulates Priyanka Gandhi on Her Victory

New Delhi: Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer, Charge d’affaires of Palestine Embassy in New Delhi visited MP Priyanka Gandhi at her residence here to congratulate on her recent election victory from Wayanad in Kerala. Gandhi reportedly denounced the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza and the international community’s silence on the issue.

Abu Jazer stated, “I met Priyanka Gandhi at her residence to congratulate her on her victory as a member of the Indian Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha (Wayanad) constituency.” Priyanka also reaffirmed her support for the Palestinian people’s fight for freedom and independence.

As per a statement by the Palestinian Embassy, Priyanka said during the meeting that “she had lived the Palestinian cause since childhood and believed in its justice”. Moreover, she mentioned meeting Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat multiple times as a child during his visits to India to meet former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

Priyanka also recalled the friendly, historical relations between the Palestinian and Indian people and also condemned the continuation of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza along with the silence of the international community, the Embassy said.

“She regretted and grieved the scenes of destruction and devastation in Gaza including the targeted attacks on civilians and the fall of children and women. She offered her condolences to every mother who has lost her child,” it said.

During the discussion, Abu Jazer reaffirmed New Delhi’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and stability and the significance of India’s role in West Asia, particularly in achieving a truce in Gaza. In the past, Palestine had maintained cordial connections with the Indian Congress Party and all other Indian political parties, he recalled.
