Two Senior AIUDF Leaders Resign smid Escalating Internal Conflicts

In a setback for Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), two senior leaders, Dr. Harun Ahmed and advocate Anowar Ali, announced their resignations on Wednesday.

Both leaders, who served as general secretaries and were key members of the party’s central committee, had long-standing associations with the AIUDF – Anowar Ali for 16 years and Harun Ahmed for 13 years.

According to a report by India Today NE, the leaders submitted their resignation letters directly to AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal at the party headquarters. In their statements, they confirmed their decision to resign from the “primary membership and all other portfolios of the party… with immediate effect,” emphasising that the move was “purely a personal decision.”

This development follows the party’s recent internal turbulence, including the suspension of Algapur MLA Nizam Uddin Choudhury earlier this month. Choudhury was expelled for six years after being accused of engaging in anti-party activities, as per an order issued by the central committee and signed by general secretary Hafiz Bashir Ahmed.

The suspension letter highlighted Choudhury’s controversial behaviour, which reportedly undermined the party’s interests and reputation.

It stated: “The central committee of the AIUDF has been closely monitoring your activities, which have repeatedly been deemed controversial and detrimental to the party’s interest. These actions have been classified as anti-party activities, negatively impacting the organization and tarnishing the party’s reputation.”
