Nagpur: The Media Department of JIH Maharashtra organised a one-day workshop at Markaz Islami here Sunday. Masi-uz-Zaman Ansari, Editor of news portal India Tomorrow (Hindi), spoke on “Understanding the Indian Media Landscape: Current Trends and Challenges”.
He said: “Minorities have negligible representation in mainstream media, which is why their real issues and perspective is not covered correctly. We must increase our participation in creating our content by ourselves to influence public opinion positively.”
In the session on “Effective Media Strategies”, Masi-uz-Zaman emphasised how media professionals must adapt with time and present positive news and stories that resonate with the people.
Arshad Shaikh, Secretary Media Department, JIH Maharashtra, delivered a session on Media Advocacy and Narrative Building, explaining how to engage media and create stories that enhance the community’s image. In the hands-on sessions, Shaikh guided participants on Drafting Press Releases, followed by Sufiyan Pathan’s session on photography and videography fundamentals.
Rizwan Ahmed, Digital Media Secretary, JIH Maharashtra, discussed using digital media at the grassroots level to influence public opinion. He emphasised creating short, impactful videos to dispel false narratives and improve societal perceptions about Islam and Muslims, highlighting its global reach.
The programme began with Tazkeer-bil-Qur’an by Hafiz Shakir Al-Akram, followed by Khwaja Izhar Ahmed, JIH Nagpur City Nazim, who stressed that media battles are not just physical but also cultural and ideological. He urged the use of digital media to propagate Islamic teachings and counter negative influences.
Syed Zameer Quadri, Deputy President, JIH Maharashtra, delivered the concluding remarks, motivating delegates to work diligently on the media front and achieve their meeqati-mission.
The workshop, attended by over 50 delegates, was moderated by Syed Salman and Zulqarnain Ahmed.
