Aligarh: Marking Fit India Week, Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a series of sports competitions, including Badminton, Table Tennis, Tug of War, and a 100-meter running race. Held from December 17 to 20, the events saw participation from students across various institutions, emphasising the importance of physical fitness and teamwork in alignment with the Fit India Movement’s goals.
The Badminton singles competition featured 27 participants representing institutions such as Women’s College, Paramedical JNMC, Department of Science, Department of Education, Girls High School, Department of Commerce, SSSG School, Abdullah Hall, and IG Hall.
Played in a knockout format, the matches highlighted exceptional talent and sportsmanship. The final match was a thrilling contest between Alisha from Abdullah Hall and Deepika from Women’s College. Alisha secured victory with a score of 21 points, narrowly defeating Deepika, who finished with 19 points.
The Table Tennis tournament brought together 20 participants from AMU institutions, making for an intense and exhilarating competition. Syeda Sarika Sobnom from Women’s College claimed the winner’s title, while Prassanna from ABK High School finished as the runner-up.
The Tug of War and 100-meter running competitions, featured participants from Women’s College, AMU ABK High School, Girls High School, SSSG School, Abdullah Hall, IG Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, and Faculty of Science.
In the 100-meter race, Vanshika Raj from Women’s College secured first place, with Anamata Khan and Hani Zehra from ABK High School taking second and third places, respectively. In the Tug of War competition, AMU ABK High School emerged victorious, while Abdullah Hall finished as the runner-up.
The competitions witnessed the presence of guests, including University officials, Retired Deputy Director of Sports, faculty members, alongside Principal Professor Masud Anwar Alavi. Their inspiring words and support motivated the participants throughout the events.
The organised event, led by Dr. Nazia Khan, ensured smooth execution and maximum participation. Hosts Aafreen Naeem, Bhoomi Chauhan, and Harshita coordinated the proceedings. Significant contributions from Mr. Zeeshan, Ms. Mehwish Khan, Aarfeen Bano, Seema Zaitoon, Afshan Obaid, Md. Kamran Khan, and Mr. Shamshad further added to the event’s success.
The celebrations at Women’s College, AMU, not only encouraged physical fitness but also promoted a spirit of healthy competition and teamwork.
