Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said that his government will not tolerate religious hatred and it is committed to maintain communal harmony in the state.
Addressing Christmas celebrations organised by the government at LB Stadium here, he said the government believes in protection of all religious communities.
“The government will not tolerate anyone speaking against another religion. People have the right to follow the faith they believe in. We will not tolerate religious hatred,” he said.
Stating that the role of Christian fraternity in the construction of a healthy Telangana is very important, Revanth Reddy assured the community that the government will provide 100 percent protection to them.
Terming December a month of miracles, he said Jesus’ birthday is being celebrated in this month every year. “Congress leader Sonia Gandhi also celebrates her birthday in December which also happened to be the month of start of the official process to the formation of Telangana state. December is a very important month for all of us.”
The Chief Minister stated that Jesus Christ gave the message to be affectionate towards neighbours apart from loving self. He noted that the Christian community is competing with the government to provide free education and medical services to the poor. Sometimes, the community provided better quality services than the government and also participated in the construction of society.
He gave the assurance that government will take action to provide Christians their share in the welfare schemes. The people’s government respects all religions equally and this government is yours, he said.
Revanth Reddy observed that 200 units of free power per month scheme for poor is very useful for Dalit and tribal Christians.
Revealing that the official process of allocating houses under Indiramma scheme to the needy will start after Sankranti festival, Revanth Reddy said that the government is mulling to ensure that poor Dalits and Dalit Christians benefit from the allotment of Indiramma houses.
He assured the Christians that due representation will be given to the community in the government. He also urged state Congress chief Mahesh Kumar Goud to provide adequate representation to Christians in the party in the future.
