Hamas has rejected what it described as the “dangerous regional mobilisation discourse” carried out by the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the occupied West Bank and warned of its repercussions on the national fabric, reports Quds Press.
In a statement, Hamas condemned and denounced “in the strongest terms” the serious violations carried out by the PA’s security apparatuses in the West Bank. It also condemned the burning of Palestinian resistance fighters’ homes in the Jenin refugee camp. A spokesman for the PA’s security services, Adnan Al-Damiri, yesterday announced the killing of First Sergeant Mahran Qadous during violent clashes with resistance fighters in the Jenin camp.
On Sunday, a presidential security guard was killed during fighting in Jenin while two civilians and a commander in the Jenin Battalion were previously killed in the same fighting.
The PA’s security services have continued for the third week a “security campaign” in the Jenin camp targeting those they describe as “outlaws”.
The PA said the campaign “aims to end security chaos and impose stability”, while Palestinian resistance factions say the campaign “targets resistance against the Israeli occupation”.
Over the past few years, the Israeli military has conducted regular raids in the occupied West Bank, especially in the refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarm and Nablus. Palestinians have also been violently attacked by illegal Israeli settlers.
At least 824 Palestinians have since been killed and over 6,500 others injured by Israeli occupation army in the occupied territory, according to the Health Ministry.
