4 Burqa-Clad Hindu Women Caught Red-Handed in Theft

– Mohammed Atherulla Shariff

Chikkaballapura: A daring theft operation led by women wearing burqas was unravelled by the Guribidanur police.  Rekha Bai, Kareenakom Dhan Patil, Rojakom Shrinath and Pushpa were caught red-handed while attempting to steal valuables from passengers on a bus, particularly targeting gold chains and cash.

Initially they raised suspicion during a previous incident on November 16 at the Gauribidanur bus station. They managed to steal two gold chains weighing 50 grams from a woman named Shnathkumari and cash Rs.1 lakh from another victim Rathnamma.

Investigating these cases, the police reviewed CCTV footage which revealed the women in burqas behaving suspiciously. A few days later when the women attempted another theft at the same bus station, they were apprehended.

The police also noted that these Hindu women wore veils over their burqas leading to increased suspicion. These women who had allegedly made theft a regular practice, have committed similar crimes across the state. Complaints were registered against these women in Tumakur, Ramanagar, Holenarsipur, Hunsur and other police stations.

Police Circle Inspector Sathyanarayan and Lady Sub-Inspector Chandrakala played a key role in nabbing these thieves.
