New Delhi: During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, signed the bilateral agreement for Haj 2025 with Saudi Arabia. The agreement, signed on January 13 in Jeddah by Rijiju and Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan AlRabiah, allocates a quota of 175,025 for Indian pilgrims.
From January 11 to 14, Rijiju’s visit to Saudi Arabia included bilateral discussions, participation in the 4th Hajj and Umrah Conference and Exhibition in Jeddah, and reviews of logistical preparations for Indian pilgrims in Madinah and Jeddah.
Rijiju attended the opening session of the global conference hosted by Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The event showcased workshops and sessions involving decision-makers, scholars, and professionals focused on enhancing pilgrimage services.
Rijiju also reviewed the preparations for Haj 2025 and discussed ways to enhance collaboration to ensure safety and comfort for Indian pilgrims.
Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al Jassar, Saudi Minister for Transport and Logistic Services, said discussions focused on improving logistics and transportation for Indian pilgrims. Prince Saud bin Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Madinah Province, said talks centred on accommodation plans and support for Indian pilgrims in Madinah.
Rijiju inspected administrative structures, transportation arrangements, and medical facilities for Indian pilgrims. He toured the Indian Haj Pilgrims’ Office in Madinah and visited Haj Terminals at Jeddah and Madinah airports to assess facilities for arrivals, departures, and baggage handling.
