JIH Central Advisory Council Adopts Resolutions Voicing Concerns on National and Global Issues

New Delhi: The Central Advisory Council (Markazi Majlis-e-Shoora) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) held its meeting from January 7 to 9, 2025, in Yelagiri, Tamil Nadu, during which several significant resolutions were adopted addressing pressing national and global issues.

National Issues

The JIH-CAC expressed deep concern over the current communal and economic challenges facing India. It criticised the government for diverting attention from critical issues such as rising inflation, unemployment, deteriorating law and order, and the prolonged unrest in Manipur by promoting divisive agendas. Contentious issues such as ‘One Nation, One Election,’ amendments to the Waqf Act, and the proposal for a Uniform Civil Code were cited as examples of attempts to distract the public from real problems.

The JIH-CAC also expressed grave concern over the growing trend of some hate-mongering elements fabricating conspiracies and creating disputes around places of worship by finding traces of temples beneath the ground layers and premises of mosques, despite the presence of laws protecting religious sites. It highlighted the harassment of innocent Muslims under the pretext of infiltrators and the political exploitation of such narratives, calling these actions detrimental to the country’s unity and integrity.

The JIH-CAC urged the government to address these issues with fairness and justice, ensure the participation of minorities in nation-building, and refrain from fostering unnecessary controversies that harm the nation and its citizens.

It also emphasised the importance of safeguarding minority rights the world over, particularly expressing concern over reports of alleged discrimination against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. This session of JIH-CAC appeals to the governments not to discriminate against their respective citizens on the basis of religion, ensure the protection of fundamental rights of the citizens living in their countries and take effective measures to maintain peace.

International Issues

On the international front, the JIH-CAC welcomed the end of a tyrannical regime in Syria and expressed satisfaction over the prospects of peace and reconstruction in the region. It called upon the transitional government in Syria to establish a representative administration that reflects the aspirations of the Syrian people and ensures equal participation of all groups in rebuilding the nation. The Council expressed hope that Syrian refugees worldwide would soon return to their homeland and lead lives free from hardship.

The JIH-CAC urged international powers to respect Syria’s sovereignty and refrain from interfering in its internal affairs as well as exploiting for their diabolic designs the freedom that the Syrians have gained after a pretty long time. It also appealed to Muslim countries and the global community to extend generous support for Syria’s reconstruction efforts.

This session of the JIH-CAC strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on Syria, terming them aggressive and unwarranted. It called on the United States and other global powers to intervene and halt Israel’s hostile actions. The JIH-CAC also reiterated its demand for the restoration of the rights pf Palestinians and urged nations to take immediate steps to end the killings of children and innocent civilians, thereby fostering peace in the region.
