Bengaluru: Karnataka Minister Zameer Khan on Wednesday gifted three cows to the family whose animals’ udders were mutilated in Bengaluru. He also gave three lakh rupees to the family.
The Cottonpet police have registered a case against an unknown person for slashing the udders and feet of three cows tied on the roadside in Vinayaka Nagar, Chamarajpet, early on Sunday.
Later a labourer from Bihar was arrested in this regard. The accused attacked the cows in an inebriated state, upset over the fact that they had soiled the area. The animals were tied to a pole, the police said.
The BJP had tried to draw political mileage from the incident by hitting the roads with placards and posters exhibiting Chief Minister Siddaramiah’s portrait defaced with cow dung.
Union Minister HD Kumara Swamy had also condemned the incident and demanded stringent action against the culprits. He had also lamented over the state government’s poor governance.
However, the gracious act of Zameer Ahmed Khan has averted a communal tension which the opposition especially the BJP had tried to create.
